With reference to your letter of the 13th of August, I am directed by Earl of Clarendon to transmit to you, to be laid before Earl Granville for perusal, the accompanying papers respecting an attempt made by Chinese armed junks to levy Salt dues in Hongkong waters.
As these papers are original, I am to request that they be returned to this Office when done with.
